Best beaches near Pattaya

By Tim Paemi · Updated 27 June 2026 · No sponsors, no paid placements

Pattaya's reputation for average beaches isn't entirely fair — the central strip is busy, but a short hop in any direction (and one quick ferry) gets you to genuinely lovely sand and clear water. Here's where the good beaches actually are, ranked honestly.

The short version

Koh Larn island — the best water

The clear winner. A 40-minute ferry from Bali Hai pier reaches Koh Larn (Coral Island) and its turquoise bays — Tawaen (main, lively), Samae (popular), and the quieter Nual (Monkey) Beach. This is the postcard Thailand most visitors don't realise is on Pattaya's doorstep.

Wong Amat — the best mainland beach

In Naklua, just north of the centre, Wong Amat is the cleanest, calmest mainland beach — a quieter, upmarket stretch fronted by resorts and condos, popular with families.

Jomtien — the long, easy one

Jomtien is the long, calm bay just south of the centre — easy, spacious and relaxed, the everyday beach for families and long-stayers. → Jomtien area guide

Cosy Beach & the quiet ones

Cosy Beach on Pratumnak Hill is a small, calm, leafy favourite. Further south, Bang Saray and the Navy-kept Sai Kaew (near Sattahip) offer clean, quiet sand for those willing to drive a little.

Central Pattaya Beach — convenient, not pretty

The central beach is right by the action and fine for a stroll, but it's busy and the water is average. Use it for convenience; head elsewhere to actually swim.
