Koh Larn — the obvious one
A 40-minute ferry from Bali Hai pier drops you on Koh Larn (Coral Island) and its turquoise bays — the clearest water near Pattaya. It's the single best day escape, and easy to do solo without a tour.

Koh Samet — the quieter island
Off the coast near Rayong, Koh Samet is a ~1.5–2 hour drive plus a short ferry, rewarding you with more pristine, postcard beaches than Pattaya's. Best as a long day or an easy overnight.
South of the city — gardens, zoo & temples
A short drive south packs in the family favourites: the world-class Nong Nooch Tropical Garden (botanical gardens, cultural shows, dinosaur valley), the open-enclosure Khao Kheow Open Zoo, and the striking Khao Chi Chan (Buddha Mountain) beside Silverlake Vineyard.
