Pattaya covers both ends of the shopping spectrum — glossy air-conditioned malls and sprawling, sweaty night markets, often a few minutes apart. Here's where to go for what, and how to not overpay.
The short version
- Biggest mall: Central Festival (Beach Road, beachfront).
- Most fun mall: Terminal 21 Pattaya (themed by city).
- Best market: Thepprasit Night Market (huge, cheap).
- Most photogenic: Pattaya Floating Market.
- Rule: malls fixed-price; markets, always bargain.
The malls
Central Festival Pattaya Beach is the big one — right on Beach Road, with international brands, a food court and cinema. Terminal 21 Pattaya is the crowd-pleaser, themed by world cities floor-by-floor and great for a wander. Royal Garden Plaza rounds out the central options. All are fixed-price and blissfully air-conditioned.
The markets
Thepprasit Night Market is the headline act — acres of clothes, gadgets, street food and souvenirs on selected evenings, at proper market prices. The Pattaya Floating Market (Four Regions) is more attraction than bargain — handicrafts, snacks and photo-ops across themed Thai-region zones. Smaller night markets appear around town too.
What to buy & how
Clothes, beachwear, souvenirs and gadgets are everywhere; Pattaya's also known for tailored suits. At markets, always bargain (start low, stay friendly), check quality on cheap electronics, and know that some branded goods are counterfeit. Evenings are cooler and when the markets come alive.
