3 days in Pattaya: the perfect first trip

By Tim Paemi · Updated 27 June 2026 · No sponsors, no paid placements

Three days is the sweet spot for a first visit — enough to feel the city, get a real island beach day, and see one slice of culture, without rushing. Here's the plan I'd give a friend flying in.

The plan in one line

Day 1 · The city & the bay

Pattaya at full volume

Ease in along Beach Road, browse Central Festival mall, and take an afternoon dip. As the sun drops, grab dinner with a view, then walk the famous Walking Street after dark to feel the city's energy. Base yourself central for this — everything's on foot.

Day 2 · Island day

Koh Larn & clear water

Catch the morning ferry from Bali Hai pier (about 40 minutes) to Koh Larn. Spend the day on Tawaen or the quieter Samae beach — the turquoise water most people don't expect near Pattaya — then ferry back for a relaxed evening.

Day 3 · Culture & nature

The other side of Pattaya

See the breathtaking all-teak Sanctuary of Truth in Naklua, then head south to the Nong Nooch Tropical Garden for its gardens and cultural show, or the Khao Chi Chan Buddha Mountain. Prefer the big city? Swap in a Bangkok day trip instead.

Make it yours

More time? Add a quieter island like Koh Samet, a round of golf, or a second beach day. With family? Lean into Nong Nooch, the open zoo and calm Jomtien beach. Here for nightlife? Give Walking Street and the bar zones an extra evening. First, sort the basics:
